Valley of Fire State Park

Updated: Oct 14, 2019

Think Alicia Keys when I say, "This park is on fiiirrrreee!"

The #1 question since returning home from our maiden voyage... "What was your favorite place to visit?" That's a tough one to answer because we took in SO many amazing sights, but this park just might take the cake.

40,000 acres of fiery-red rock made me all sorts of giddy with my camera in hand. The two hikes we ventured on were completely doable for our 2 year old, which made this place even more of a win in our book!

White Domes

This hike will forever go down as a favorite. White Domes is a 1.1 mile loop with 150 feet of elevation gain. As you can see in this first picture, Rowen is not in his backpack because he was easily able to hike the entire loop. There is really no greater reward than to watch your children follow in your footsteps, learning to love the same things in life.

Come hike the loop with us -------->

Golden sand, colorful sandstone, slot canyons, rock formations and the ruins from a film set -- plenty to see, explore and take pictures of!

Fire Wave Trail

Another one to write home about! This trail is 1.5 miles round-trip, with 175 feet of elevation gain. Again, a great hike for a toddler to be out of the backpack on! The thing I will remember most from the fire wave are the stripes of color. Super cool to walk across the wavey lines of red, orange, beige and white, like a chocolate and vanilla swirl cone.. you know what I'm talking about, right?!

Run to daddy!!!!!!!!

I don't know about you, but I'd definitely say it gives Vegas a run for its money! It would be hard to return to the strip and not return to Valley of Fire, as well. I'd be sitting poolside, sipping on a cold beverage, looking up at the sky, thinking, "Not far from where I sit is one of the most beautiful places I've ever laid my eyes on... TAXI!" *winky face*
