The definition of a hidden gem, Palouse Falls is literally in the middle of nowhere southeast Washington.

waterfall in the middle of nowhere
The overlook alone was worth the drive out to Palouse Falls State Park! 100 miles from Spokane, 75 from Kennewick and 55 from Walla Walla, it's definitely a jaunt to get there, but completely worth your time and efforts! Standing 200 ft tall, Palouse Falls are said to be the most impressive in the state of Washington. We can attest - the sight is truly jaw dropping.

stunning at all angles
Located inside a state park, you do need a day-pass if from out of state. This area is day-use only, so unfortunately no camping. With 94 acres to explore, we were so thankful to run into a local hiker that kindly told us about a trail beyond the overlook area. A hidden gem inside of a hidden gem!
This off-the-beaten path hike was very doable for our kids! One slightly steep section, covered in rocks, made it a little difficult for our two older boys, but nothing they couldn't overcome when holding mom & dad's hand. We spent an hour or more, jumping rocks and playing in the water. We basically had the whole area to ourselves!

Christmas card??
We were so pleasantly surprised at what we found at Palouse Falls State Park! Highly recommend a day-trip for those that live in eastern Washington, or are visiting the state, as we were. Pack a picnic, take in the incredible views of the falls and explore beyond the overlook. A great way to spend a day!
